Majestic Inn & Spa Review Anacortes

Located in Anacortes, Washington, Majestic Inn & Spa is an ideal base camp for land and sea excursions from Fidalgo Island. The historic boutique hotel, built in 1890, was once home to a hardware store and office building. The 5-story property features a restaurant, spa, rooftop patio and is ideally situated on Commercial Avenue in downtown Anacortes. Read my first-hand Majestic Inn & Spa review for insider tips to the best massage treatment and my secret view spot in Anacortes.

What makes Majestic Inn & Spa unique?

We love staying at a historic boutique hotel by the water. In fact, if you are planning a Pacific northwest adventure from Astoria, Oregon to Whidbey Island in Washington State, you’ll want to read all of my boutique hotel reviews before you depart. The Majestic Inn hotel was originally located nearby and moved to the Commercial Avenue location. The hotel’s grand staircase was lovingly restored, as well as the cupola with its million dollar view of Anacortes and the surrounding San Juans.

The 64-room property is within walking distance to retail shops, bookstores and multiple restaurants. The hotel is composed of two buildings; the historic building (where we stayed) and the contemporary building. The front desk is staffed 24/7. Both building locations include free parking, as well as two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Coffee lovers delight

Yet another perk of the property is the Moka Joe coffee that is freshly ground upon hotel check-in. Each room features a French Press for fresh pour-over coffee. Tea drinkers will feel left out, as their tea selection is lacking. The locally made chocolates made up for this oversight.

What are the amenities at Majestic Inn & Spa Anacortes

This 4-star hotel is open year-round. We visited in January, as we prefer off-season travel with less crowds. The downside of shoulder season holidays is that the bar and rooftop lounge are not open this time of year. However, if you upgrade to the romance package, the wine, chocolates and rose petals decorating your room will more than make up for the winter chills.

What are the rooms like at Majestic Inn & Spa?

What are the hotel rooms like at Majestic Inn? We stayed in the Majestic Suite King, also known as the honeymoon suite. With 720 square feet, you’ll feel like royalty in this 2-bedroom suite. As mentioned, we opted for the Romance package, for an additional fee. On our winter getaway, room #501 rented for $290 – $330 off season. Check the website for AAA, AARP and multi-day specials.

Our room featured a king bed, 2-person jetted tub, oversized dual balconies, a second bathroom and living room with wet bar, mini fridge and French Press coffee maker. It should be noted that the elevator services floors one through four. Our room was located on the fifth floor. You will need to carry your bags up one flight of stairs. Keep this in mind if you have mobility issues.

Food options at Majestic Inn & Spa in Anacortes

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at 5th Street Bistro within Majestic Inn & Spa hotel. Located on the ground floor of the hotel, we tried the Happy Hour and breakfast. Currently offered from 4-6 p.m. 5th Street Bistro bar offered discounted drinks and food. We made a light meal of fried calamari, fried brussel sprouts with goat cheese and tasty steak tips.

Our breakfast selections included a filling Eggs Benedict and a leek, cheese and ham quiche with fresh fruit. Our waitress was friendly and offered local knowledge tips, such as taking the ferry to Guemes Island.

Apothecary Spa at Majestic Inn & Spa

If this trip is a girlfriend getaway or romantic escape, you’ll want to book a spa appointment at Apothecary Spa. Popular with locals, as well as hotel guests, Apothecary Spa has both excellent technicians and a lovely organic product line. The Getaway Package included a 60-minute massage and 60-minute organic facial with a lovely scalp massage. I would recommend both Tim, my massage therapist and Heidi, my aesthetician.

Is Majestic Inn & Spa pet-friendly?

Majestic Inn & Spa is dog-friendly. Dogs are allowed on the 2nd floor in the contemporary building. For those with allergies, you’ll want to book the hypo allergenic room. For an additional fee, the pure room has hardwood floors and filtered air.

No matter the time of year for your visit, there are plenty of bookstores and art galleries in downtown Anacortes. The first Friday of every month offers an artwalk. Local art, jewelry and sculpture are featured downtown. In fact, Majestic Inn & Spa features a different artist’s work on the first floor every month. You’ll enjoy the Anacortes views from the 5th story cupola to the rooftop patio, or your own private room.
