Saratoga Inn Langley Review

Located in Langley, Washington on Whidbey Island, Saratoga Inn is the perfect bed and breakfast for an island getaway. The seaside boutique hotel offers stunning views of the Saratoga Passage and Cascade Mountains. The two-story property, on the south end of Whidbey Island, is family-owned, offering its guests VIP treatment. What makes Saratoga Inn Langley special?

This was our first time staying at Saratoga Inn in Langley. However, it won’t be our last visit to this Langley, Washington bed & breakfast. We’ll be joining a select group of Whidbey Island hotel guests, who, like the local salmon, return year after year. Conveniently located only 60 minutes from Seattle, Saratoga Inn may be accessed via Deception Pass Bridge in Anacortes, or via the Washington State Ferry. We drove from Anacortes and returned to Oregon via the Clinton Ferry Terminal to Mukilteo, north of Seattle. With or without kids, the ferry was a fun experience.

As I’ve mentioned before, my husband and I enjoy staying at historic boutique hotels by the water. Saratoga Inn, while not historic, was like a well-kept secret to many of the guests I spoke with during our stay. We met guests from Seattle, California and Oregon.

The 15-room property is within walking distance to the charming seaside town of Langley. There is free parking in the back of the Inn. Both AV and Tesla charging stations are available on property.

What amenities are offered at Saratoga Inn?

This 3-star boutique hotel is open year-round. We visited on a weekend in February. I imagine Whidbey Island hotel rooms are booked way in advance during high season.

If this is a special occasion stay, upgrade to the Romance Package. You’ll see in the above video that the innkeeper decorated our hotel room with rose petals. A bottle of Washington State red wine from Ott Hunter Wine and two Saratoga Inn logo wine glasses were waiting for us, as well as fabulous chocolates from Sweet Mona Chocolates (within walking distance of the hotel.) Fresh flowers from Flowers by the Bay Freeland were also in our room. Who says Valentine’s day can’t be celebrated year-round?

What are the room choices at Saratgoa Inn?

We stayed in a deluxe king room, #6, with a gas fireplace, Saratoga Passage water view and a cozy window seat. Some rooms feature a private deck. The Carriage House suite, occupied during our stay, stands alone in its own building. At 700-square-feet, I’d call this the honeymoon suite. In fact, the California couple staying here were celebrating their wedding anniversary and said the suite was fabulous. I need a rain check!

All rooms include Boca Terry Robes, televisions and access to the DVD lending library. I was looking for the Practical Magic DVD, with Sandra Bullock, as it was filmed in nearby Coupeville, Washington on Whidbey Island. Shower amenities include Pharmacopia bath products. The rainfall shower head in our walk-in shower was luxurious.

Food options at Saratoga Inn Langley

More upscale than your typical Langley, Washington B & B, Saratoga Inn offers a gourmet breakfast and afternoon wine and hors d’oeuvres included with your stay. On our visit, the chef impressed us with hand crafted specials like apple pie stuffed waffles, fluffy cheese and scallion scrambled eggs or house made breakfast quesadillas with homemade guacamole and Pico de Gallo.

Evenings offer a manager’s happy hour with wine, tea and sweet and savory bites. Offered from 4-5 p.m. daily, we loved the garlic herb goat cheese ball, brie with chutney, mini cheesecakes and house made macaroons. Light eaters might augment these tasty bites with a dinner salad at a local restaurant; there are so many good dining options within walking distance.

There are vegetarian and gluten-free options both breakfast and afternoon. I loved that the innkeeper featured a local cheese plate from Grayhorse Mercantile in Langley. The staff at Saratoga Inn make a conscious effort to feature local products and makers on property.

Is Saratoga Inn pet-friendly?

Saratoga Inn is dog-friendly. On our visit the inn charged $40 daily for a pet. Check in time is 3:30 p.m. However, if your room is available, early check-in is possible. Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. unless you purchase the Romance Package, which includes a late check out time.

As mentioned, we enjoyed a shoulder season stay. Rooms rates fluctuate, depending on the season and depending on the room type reserved. Rates range from $180 – $550, plus tax. Our king deluxe room rented for $309 – $319 in low season. The Whidbey Island hotel offers AAA, AARP, military and local’s discounts during certain times of the year.

Be sure to visit the Island County Parks, including Saratoga Woods Preserve and Trails and Double Bluff Beach, overlooking Useless Bay. Stop at Greenbank Farm for wine and cheese tasting or Whidbey Island Pie. If you appreciate sheep cheese, Glendale Shepherd store in Clinton, Washington is a delight. We’ll return to Whidbey Island for another chance at experiencing this island magic in Langley, Washington.
