What’s so special about the Forest River No Boundaries 20.2 Travel Trailer? If you enjoy off-road travel, the No Boundaries (NoBo) towable RV is designed for off-grid adventures. My first person review provides a detailed walk-through of the 2026 Forest River No Boundaries 20.2 Beast Mode travel trailer.
Travel Writer Nancy D. Brown reviews NoBo recreational vehicle
I’m Nancy D. Brown, a freelance writer and travel blogger based in Oregon. I specialize in luxury hotel reviews and know what I like in a couples recreational vehicle. My husband tows our travel trailer with his F150 Ford truck. He’ll go over the towing capacity, as well as what makes the NoBo Beast Mode stand out in this review of the Forest River No Boundaries 20.2 travel trailer. I’ll be using the abbreviated term NoBo in this vehicle review.
Forest River No Boundaries 20.2 Travel Trailer review
My husband and I like to travel off grid. We enjoy boondocking without an electrical hookup and we don’t necessarily need access to fresh water. That’s not to say that we won’t camp at state-owned or private campgrounds. However, we do like a luxury stay when we camp. The Forest River NoBo 20.2 is described as a couples trailer. We are both baby boomers. We appreciate a comfortable bed, a functional floorplan and a great view from the comfort of our recreational vehicle, as well as steps from our travel trailer front porch. The Forest River No Boundaries 20.2 travel trailer ticked all the boxes for us.
Why We Traded Our Airstream for a NoBo Travel Trailer
People ask me why we sold our Airstream Globetrotter trailer and purchased the Forest River No Boundaries travel trailer. As noted, we like to go dry camping. With 400 watts of solar panels and large water tanks, we don’t rely on electrical or plumbing outlets. Our Airstream offered plenty of solar panels, but with its low clearance, we didn’t feel comfortable taking our trailer wild camping. By that, I mean we didn’t pursue washboard roads. We also didn’t like worrying if a rivet would pop out on an encounter with a pothole in the road.
Our NoBo travel trailer with Beast Mode literally means we may travel with No Boundaries. All we require is a flat patch of ground to accommodate our 25 foot trailer and our truck. Upon entering the NoBo you’ll notice the solid steps leading up to the no-slam door. The solid grab bar on the left of the entrance is also a requirement for those of us who value safety.
NoBo Interior Floor Plan
An open area and shelf, left of the front door, serves as a food staging area, coffee machine area or bar, depending on your preference. A large pantry with privacy glass and motion sensor lighting has 3 large shelves. There are no silverware drawers in this NoBo trailer. However, with the BlueOx tow hitch and Curt suspension, individual drawers for plates and silverware are not necessary. A new-to-me feature is the central vac system, operated with a tap of your foot. the vacumn is located at the base of the enclosed pantry.
The large bathroom includes an automatic nightlight, walk-in shower, covered exhaust vent and upgraded sliding shower door. There is a locking medicine cabinet, porcelain toilet, shelves under the counter top and several towel hooks above the toilet. The NoBo travel trailer features a tankless, on demand hot water heater.
Travel Trailer 20.2 Kitchen
The kitchen includes a 3-burner gas stovetop, as well as a combination air fryer, confection oven, microwave oven. There is a NoBo-branded wood cutting board that fits over the large kitchen sink. Above the stovetop is a hook for the cutting board to rest as a backsplash when not covering the sink. The kitchen sink has a 3-way faucet offering waterfall, spray and direct stream options. To the left of the sink is an automatic cup washer. Under the sink and stove top are enclosed storage spaces.
Across from the stove is a large capacity, 12 volt refrigerator and freezer. This component is a huge upgrade in size and energy efficiency from our previous StarCraft and Airstream trailers.
Forest River NoBo Living Room
As mentioned, the open floor plan and no slide out function of this travel trailer makes us happpy. We like the theater style seats that recline after a long day out hiking or kayaking. The bar area off the kitchen includes a pop up charger for working on your laptop. There is an additional pop up charging unit to the left of the pantry. Two beige leather barstools slide under the counter and include a strap to keep them secure when traveling.
The large picture window above the counter opens for nice airflow, while the even larger window above the theater seating area offers great natural light for reading. There is a 32″ Connex television built in above the bar counter top. Of course the gas furnace and air conditioner keep you cool in the spring, summer & fall or cozy in the winter.
No Boundaries Queen Bedroom
Sliding wood doors separate the living room from the bedroom in this NoBo 20.2 travel trailer. The NoBo bedroom features a 60×80 queen bed. The factory mattress is nothing special. We added a FloBed mattress topper for a heavenly comfortable sleep.
You’ll notice in both my photos and the YouTube video that I decorated our NoBo Rogue River edition travel trailer with Pendleton products. I have a Pendleton runner on the floor, a Pendleton wool blanket on the queen bed and a Pendleton beach towel hangs in the bathroom. I’m even wearing a Pendleton wool shirt in the video. It’s clear to me that we like supporting Oregon-based businesses. It should be noted that our NoBo travel trailer Rogue River edition was built in Oregon.
Walk-around queen bed in NoBo Beast
Our walk-around queen bed includes 4 drawers at the base of the bed. Additionally, the platform may be raised easily to offer additional storage space under the bed frame. On either side of the bed are USB and USB-C ports, as well as an inverter switch and electrical outlet. There are more USB plug-ins within the cubbies on either side of the bed.
LED lights are above the bed, as well as a light switch on the bedroom wall. Individual light switches may be accessed above the bed for individual reading needs. There are privacy glass windows on either of the wardrobes on either side of the bed, in addition to 2 drawers below the lighted wardrobe closet with motion detection sensors.
Above the bed are 4 deep cabinets for additional storage. I was pleased to see that my travel backpack fit easily into the cabinet above my bed. We like a tidy living space.
NoBo Beast Mode Explained
What separates the No Boundaries 20.2 Forest River travel trailer from the NoBo Beast Mode? The Beast Mode has higher ground clearance and better suspension. This trailer has a composite (AZDEL) construction on an aluminum frame, with a walkable roof. It comes ladder prepped. We purchased the exterior ladder, as the exterior of the trailer is nearly 12 feet tall. The independent Curt suspension is a double axel without axels. The 400 watts of solar, 2,000 watt inverter and electrical outlets (120 and 12 volt USB and USB-C) inside and outside the trailer keep us connected. There is USB and USB-C in the pass thru storage area and 120 on the exterior. Motion detection lights above the the waste drain, in the bathroom, pantry and pass thru storage are appreciated.
We like the tankless water heater, 15,000 BTU air conditioner and 12 volt heat pads in the 40 gallon fresh water tank, 40 gallon grey tank and 30 gallon black tank, in addition to forced air when running the furnace. The enclosed underbelly with forced heat makes this trailer all season ready.
No Boundaries Outdoor Living
The outdoor shower, with hot and cold water, works for humans and pets. Additionally, there is also a 16 foot retractable awning with LED lighting, for outdoor living. We have yet to try the outdoor kitchen, under the “Taco Truck” pass-through window. A table and grill attach to a secure side rail above the propane outlet and are included with the trailer.
The dry weight of the trailer is approximately 5,400 pounds, with a listed carrying capacity of 1,500 pounds. This results in a heavy hitch weight of 610 dry. With 2 large propane tanks and a couple of lead batteries, we are estimating 750 pounds, that’s before filling the 40 gallon fresh water tank, located near the front of the trailer. Payload of our half ton pick up truck needs to be managed. Your towing experience may vary greatly.
My husband feels confident with the Blue Ox tow hitch and Curt HD independent suspension, resulting in a smooth ride. The downside to the NoBo trailer, with regard to fuel efficiency, is that it sits high off the ground. Our gasoline miles per gallon (mpg) is 15% less, compared with to a similar weight with our Airstream trailer.
In summary, these are our first impressions of the Forest River No Boundaries 20.2 Beast Mode travel trailer. I hope I’ve given you an idea of what to expect with this towable travel trailer for your on and off-grid adventures.
