Surfland Hotel Review Lincoln City

If you are traveling with kids or solo adventuring on the Oregon coast, Surfland Hotel by the Sea is a clean and friendly stay. The budget-friendly oceanfront hotel in Lincoln City has recently finished a multi-million-dollar renovation. Why trust my Surfland Hotel review Lincoln City? Unlike other hotel reviews, I’ve stayed at the pet-friendly property and will show you what to expect.

What makes Surfland Hotel in Lincoln City unique

The family-owned Surfland Hotel in Lincoln City was purchased in 2022 and has undergone a top to bottom renovation. Formerly known as The Nordic Oceanfront Inn, the 3-story hotel will appeal to the value conscious traveler. The property includes a free continental breakfast, indoor pool and direct Lincoln City beach access from the hotel.

A private path to the beach will give oceanfront access for you, your dog or your kids. For those who would rather bask in the Oregon sunshine, enjoy the large, private sun deck with chaise lounges.

What amenities are offered at Surfland Hotel by the sea?

We tend to travel off season and this preference holds true for our beach holidays. Call me crazy, but we like to stay at central Oregon coast hotels in the winter. On this particular visit, we were not able to take advantage of the outdoor gas fire pit or the outdoor bocce ball court because it snowed! Notice the fresh blanket of white snow around the over-sized Connect 4 game and patio tables.

Instead, we took advantage of the saunas and indoor swimming pool. The pool is open from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Those traveling without children should note that the adult-only pool hours are 9:00 – 11:00 p.m for the eighteen and over age group.

What are the rooms like in this Surfland Hotel review?

While all Surfland Hotel rooms feature ocean views, we stayed in a king studio room. Our king studio #309 included a gas fireplace, mini fridge, microwave oven, 50″ UHD TV and a fabulous ocean view. The bathroom was smaller than we are used to, but for the price of the hotel room, we can’t complain.

The Surfland Hotel Lincoln City offers 46 studios, from 2 queen beds to single king beds, as well as 7 suites. Next time we would upgrade to a deluxe room that included a balcony to take advantage of the view with a private setting.

If this is a special occasion, opt for the Romance Package and the staff will scatter red rose petals on the bed, along with a bottle of red, white or sparkling wine, hotel logo glasses and a small box of chocolates from the local candy shop.

Are you travelling with a pet? If the answer is yes, you’d better have a small dog. If your pet weights over 25 pounds, you won’t be staying at The Surfland Hotel. Seventeen of the hotel rooms are pet-friendly. The rooms are located on the first floor. On our visit the hotel charged $20 per pet, per night. Check the website for current pricing.

Breakfast, coffee and libations at Surfland Hotel

Breakfast is included with your stay. We found the offerings similar to a Best Western hotel or Holiday Inn Express. On the positive side, the Surfland serves coffee from Portland Roasting Company. The hotel provides fresh ground coffee upon check-in for your in-room French Press.

Fresh cookies are served in the lobby gift shop in the afternoon. The gift shop sells individual cans of beer, Oregon red and white wines and various snacks such as Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwiches and Eugene, Oregon-based Euphoria Chocolate Company chocolates.

Things to do in Lincoln City, Oregon

Wondering how Surfland Hotel got its name? According to legend, the locals wanted Lincoln City to be named Surfland back in 1964. Lincoln City won the naming contest, but the area is still known for its awesome surfing. Check out the surfer dude statue in front of the Surfland Hotel entrance. If surfing isn’t your sport, there is a kite shop within walking distance of the hotel.

It’s an 11 minute drive to Lincoln City Glass Center if you’d like to try your hand at glass blowing, or purchase a glass float. For the foodies in the group, Blackfish Cafe is a 15 minute walk from the hotel and comes highly recommended. We loved the fresh seafood.

Rates at the Surfland Hotel start at $99 to $448, plus tax. Our king studio ranged from $164 – $196 during low season. Hotel rates are higher during peak summer season.
