Whether you are storm watching or kite-flying, Coho Oceanfront Lodge makes a great Lincoln City home base. The Lincoln City family-owned hotel sits majestically on a bluff looking out to the Pacific Ocean on Oregon’s central coast. Why trust my Coho Oceanfront Lodge review? I stayed at this pet-friendly hotel and experienced the property firsthand.
What makes Coho Oceanfront Lodge special?
With 69 rooms, some dog-friendly, couples and families will be sure to enjoy their stay on the beach in Lincoln City. While not directly on the beach, this is a good thing. Situated on a 50-foot bluff, overlooking the beach, Coho Oceanfront Lodge gives you ocean view front row seats from your hotel room or seated at the outdoor firepits.
Access to the beach is a mere half block away on foot. We were visiting on a blustery February holiday and loved watching the ocean waves crash from the comfort of our cozy central Oregon coast hotel room. The Lincoln City oceanfront hotel underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2021 and it shows. I’ll talk more about the hotel updates under the amenities section.
What amenities are offered at Coho Oceanfront Lodge?
I spoke with several repeat hotel guests in the breakfast room. Guests loved the gas firepits on the back of the property. There is an ADA accessible communal fire pit looking out to the Pacific Ocean. Several fire pits are situated on the bluff above the beach.
If you enjoy keeping up with your exercise while on holiday, there is a small workout room at Coho Lodge. Additionally, there is an indoor pool with a hot tub and sauna. My husband took advantage of the sauna to warm up on a cold winter day.
We appreciated that the Sunset Suites are in the adult-only section of the hotel. No children and no pets are on this side of the oceanfront hotel. If you are traveling with children, you’ll want to reserve the Kid’s Suite as they include complimentary XBOX games, available in the hotel lobby.
What type of hotel rooms are available at this Lincoln City hotel?
Coho Oceanfront Lodge offers 24 ocean facing studios, 12 sunset suites, 3 kid’s suites, 12 fireplace suites, 4 double queen rooms and 6 partial view rooms. We stayed in Sunset Suite #70 with a soaking tub, gas fireplace, walk in shower with rainfall shower head. The room included a small desk, sofa with table and mini fridge.
My husband enjoyed the French Press with fresh ground coffee provided by Portland Coffee Roasters. I loved the cozy hooded logo robes hanging in the bathroom. I wish the hotel had provided bath salts for the soaking tub. Fortunately, I carry my own bath salts and bath slippers. The ocean view from both our king bed and the soaking tub was fantastic.
Food, wine, coffee and beer at Coho Oceanfront hotel
The complimentary continental breakfast is quite impressive. There is a make-your-own waffle station, eggs, biscuits with country gravy, patty sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, fresh muffins and bagels. Additionally, fresh coffee from Portland Coffee Roasters, juice, tea and water were available.
The Coho Oceanfront Lodge offers a weekend wine reception in the lobby on Friday and Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. The hotel lobby also offers beer, wine and snacks for purchase. We tried the Columbus charcuterie tasting board and enjoyed a bottle of Hyland Estates Pinot Noir.
Enjoy a glass of local Oregon wine by one of several outdoor fire pits. Perfectly situated above the ocean, the fire pits offer ocean views in the day and dancing flames from the gas fireplace at night.
Things to Do in Lincoln City, Oregon
While Lincoln City is often referred to as the Kite Capital of the World, our visit was not optimum kite flying weather. Instead, we headed indoors to the Lincoln City Glass Center. Both children and adults are able to create beautiful glass items such as glass floats, hearts or paperweights.
There are plenty of beach walking opportunities around Lincoln City, as well as boating and kayaking. Finally, Pelican Brewery is an option for beer lovers and pub fare enthusiasts.
