Delfino Vineyards Bed & Breakfast

Located in Roseburg, Delfino Vineyards Bed & Breakfast is a Southern Oregon experience worth repeating. Like the Wizard of Oz, there’s a lot going on behind the curtains. Not only do the husband and wife team operate Delfino Vineyards guest cottage, they also run a small winery, producing award-winning wines.

The family-owned and operated winery was formerly a working cattle ranch and there are still a few cows on the property today. Situated on 160 acres, the boutique winery specializes in Syrah, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Müller Thurgau and several additional varietals.

Owners Jim and Terri Delfino are northern California transplants who moved to the Southern Oregon property in 2001. In 2002 they planted their first wine grapes on the rocky hillsides of the Umpqua Valley. With 18 acres planted to seven grape varietals, the winery and tasting room keep the husband and wife team busy.

My husband and I were spending the day wine tasting in the Umpqua Valley. However, when we found out the Delfino’s operated a bed & breakfast, we decided to come back for a weekend getaway at a later date. Less than 90 minutes from Eugene, Oregon, Roseburg and the Umpqua Valley is known for outdoor recreation and a burgeoning wine region.

The antique-filled bedroom features a queen bed and armoire with two white robes. We used the robes when we headed out to the private hot tub for star gazing in the evening. Be aware that the owners live on property next to the bed & breakfast, as do their two friendly ranch dogs.

If Terri or Jim are not behind the counter pouring wine, the tasting room staff is happy to answer any questions about their wines. Additionally, guests can walk the property or relax by the pond. We enjoyed our walk by the vineyards and up to Wild Rose Meadow, offering a panoramic view of the Umpqua Valley.

Things to Do in Roseburg, Oregon

In addition to hiking the property, Delfino Vineyards offers concerts every Saturday afternoon during the summer months. Located in the heart of the Umpqua Valley, there is a winery and tasting room trail guide offered by Umpqua Valley Wineries, Oregon’s oldest fine wine region. Hike to waterfalls in the Umpqua National Forest, fish the Umpqua River, visit Crater Lake National Park or Seven Feathers Casino and Spa.

Delfino Vineyards Bed & Breakfast is not pet-friendly (although the owners do love pets.) Camp Kodah Bed & Biscuit is located across the street for dog and cat boarding. We boarded our Labrador Retriever with the owner and she sent photos and video clips to keep us posted on our doggie daycare situation.
