If you work in the Oregon travel and tourism industry, you’ve already registered for the Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism taking place in Salem, April 19-21, 2009. This year the conference marks its 25th anniversary and has many surprises in store.

Oregon is making its presence known in the world of social media.  Travel Oregon’s Interactive Marketing Manager, Mo Sherifdeen, is the voice behind TravelOregon on Twitter and has done a wonderful job of promoting the region. He’ll be taking attendees through Social Media Boot Camp.

Meet the Bloggers

I’ll be speaking at the Meet the Bloggers session on Monday, April 20 from 3:30-5:00 PM. The panel description says that bloggers exert tremendous influence with audiences that are fierceley loyal and engaged. It also mentions that blogs offer an exceptional opportunity to address a targeted niche audience. That’s where I step in to speak about travel writing vs. blogging and my What a Trip, Travels from Northern California blog. I hope you’ll be able to join me in Oregon.

As a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism, I have fond memories of my time in Eugene and will forever be a supporter of the state. In fact, I met my husband on campus and we vacation in Central Oregon every summer.  My brother lives in Bend and my husband dreams of retiring to Oregon one day. As their slogan states, Oregon. We Love Dreamers.
