I was entering foreign territory when I drove over the bridge from Albany to Corvallis, Oregon. Physically, I was crossing the river, but as a University of Oregon alum, I was acutely aware that I was entering Beaver country, otherwise known as Oregon State University or OSU for short. Times have changed since I went to college. Corvallis has grown up. So, too, have the lodging choices in this college town. On my recent visit, I stayed at Corvallis Comfort Suites.
Black and orange colors are flying proud in storefronts and local businesses, and the leaves are popping during my early October visit.
Rates range from $135 to $299, depending on the room type and time of year. My king standard room rented for $135+ tax. The hotel also offers AAA and AARP discounts.
