It was happy hour at Half Moon Bay Lodge, but this was more of a tail wagging, grass sniffing gathering than a wine and cheese reception. And the mingling and introductions were not taking place in the hotel lobby or on the sun drenched pool deck. People and pets were smartly strolling along the grass-filled swaths of lawn behind the Half Moon Bay Lodge, looking out to Half Moon Bay Golf Links “Old Course.”
Pet-friendly Half Moon Bay Lodge
While the Half Moon Bay Lodge is certainly pet-friendly – a portable dog bowl and bag of doggie treats are waiting upon check in – this centrally-located hotel is also family-friendly.
Kids and adults will enjoy relaxing at the swimming pool or in the gazebo-covered hot tub. Toddlers and children will be able to kick off their shoes and dig their toes into the green grass behind the hotel or toss a football around. And don’t forget to grab a fresh cookie or two from the hotel lobby in the afternoon.
King Suite with walk out balcony
All 80 rooms at Half Moon Bay Lodge have been recently renovated in 2013. Our king suite with a queen sleeper sofa bed featured a wet bar with mini fridge, small desk work space area (hello free internet!) and wood burning fireplace. I liked the fact that the bedroom was at the end of the building, as it made for quiet sleeping quarters.
Our king suite rented for $379. plus tax per night during Fourth of July weekend and $309. plus tax mid-week. There is no resort fee and no charge for parking. Check the website for current pricing and package deals.
My Labrador retriever was sold on the place as soon as she received her first dog treat, but the true selling point was the first floor access to the back patio and park-like, tree-lined setting.
Half Moon Bay golf packages
Golfers will love the fact that they are able to roll out of bed and onto the Half Moon Bay Golf Links. Our room, #109, is next to the tee box on the fourth hole of the Half Moon Bay Golf Links Old Course. This location is going to drive my husband crazy, as he decided to leave his golf clubs at home this trip to the coast.
Half Moon Bay Lodge breakfast
Parents, children and travelers on a budget will appreciate the complimentary hot breakfast included in the price of rooms at Half Moon Bay Lodge. In addition to the light-filled breakfast room, hotel guests are able to dine outside on the patio tables. Breakfast includes fruit juices, coffee and milk. Kids will like the make-your-own waffles – chocolate and buttermilk on our visit – as well as the individual boxes of cereal and packets of instant oatmeal.
There is also a bagel bar with cream cheese, butter and toaster, a variety of fresh muffins, scrambled eggs and sausage patties.
