Located in the active adventure town of Moab, Utah, Element Hotel Moab by Westin is a brand new hotel near Arches National Park. Offering views of the Portal entrance to the Colorado River, this is where the action starts in Moab. The Element Moab hotel is easy to find along Highway 191 and checks all the boxes for a clean, affordable hotel centered in the heart of Moab.
Element Moab near Arches National Park
Situated approximately 5 minutes by car to downtown Moab, the Element Moab Hotel is 3 miles from the entrance to Arches National Park. The hotel is also close to rafting, rock climbing, horseback riding and the Rocky Mountaineer train that travels from Moab to Denver, Colorado.
Plane, train or car to Element Moab Hotel
We arrived to Element Moab Hotel via Moab Express Shuttle as we had flown into Canyonlands Airport in Moab via a Denver, Colorado flight. If you are traveling by car, the hotel is off Highway 191. On site car parking is complimentary.
The 118 room boutique hotel opened on March 2, 2021. The Moab hotel features clean lines and light-filled rooms. With 2 studio common suites, 55 2 queen bed configuration with full kitchens, 6 double king large rooms with full kitchen and 55 standard rooms, the hotel works for families, couples and groups. The Moab Marriott property is so new that it has not yet received its AAA hotel rating.
Inside Element Moab hotel room
Our king suite, room #346, offered a full kitchen and the signature Westin Heavenly Bed. My travel tip is to ask for a hotel room facing the swimming pool. All rooms on that side of Element Hotel Moab offer great views of the Portal – the entrance to the Colorado River. There is an RV Park next door, but that only slightly impacted our Portal view from our hotel room.
Our hotel room included a shower and Pharmacopia bath amenities. The room also included a flat-screen tv, table, chair and coffee maker. If you are traveling with children or you prefer to eat meals in your room, you’ll want to splurge for the king suite. We had a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, sink, dishwasher, microwave oven and kitchen utensils.
Dining at Element Moab Hotel
A complimentary “Rise Breakfast” is included in the price of your hotel stay. The hot item changes weekly and included fresh pancakes on our visit. Additionally, the breakfast included dried cereal, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, coffee, tea and juices.
The refrigerator magnet in our hotel room referenced a complimentary evening reception with light nibbles. However, due to the pandemic, this meal offering was on pause. The lobby bar will serve several cocktails once Covid restrictions are lifted.
Breakfast was available form 6:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Fresh fruit and infused ice water was available in the hotel lobby. A snack bar with limited grab and go items was to the right of the check-in counter.
Things to Do in Moab, Utah
On site amenities included an outdoor pool and 2 hot tubs, as well as cabanas by the swimming pool with lounge chairs. There were 2 bicycles available in front of Element Moab hotel for guests to use. Additionally, an exercise room and laundry facilities were available.
Hotel rates fluctuate during the year. Prices range from $159 off-peak to as high as $500 during busy season. The hotel is pet-friendly, charging $50 per stay.
Our Moab visit took place in September, 2021. We had arrived via shuttle for our luxury train ride on the Rocky Mountaineer. As guests of Rocky Mountaineer, we utilized their complimentary bus service to access downtown Moab. I will mention that Uber and Lyft drivers were extremely limited during our visit. We were thankful for the shuttle to downtown as there were not any restaurants nearby on our visit.
One of the highlights of my trip to Moab was horseback riding at Red Cliffs Lodge. Accessible by car, the lodge is on the Colorado River and is able to arrange rafting trips, as well as meals at the restaurant and horseback riding.
