Cliffrose Springdale Hotel Review by Zion

Looking for a boutique hotel that’s minutes from Zion National Park? My Cliffrose Springdale hotel review by Zion Canyon will give you a firsthand look into this Southern Utah property. Cliffrose Lodge falls under the Curio Collection by Hilton family of brands and it’s a jewel.

One of two hot tubs, open year-round, at Cliffrose Springdale hotel. The two-pool hot tub has a red rock formation with water feature. Five lounge chairs flank the hot tubs, while sandstone rock formations loom behind the boutique hotel.

The two-story, 5-acre property is like staying in a park, while being surrounded by Southern Utah’s massive red rocks. In fact, the Watchman rock formation looms behind Cliffrose Lodge, while the Virgin River flows along the banks of the hotel property.

Wood and glass frame the entrance to Cliffrose Springdale hotel. The one-story building houses Anthera restaurant and the lobby behind the front entrance. Sandstone mountains rise behind the southern Utah hotel.

What makes Cliffrose Springdale Lodge unique?

Opened in 1988 in Springdale, Utah, the Curio Collection by Hilton is an independent upscale hotel with views that just won’t quit. With 40 traditional deluxe hotel rooms, 7 2-bedroom suites and 6 1-bedroom suites, the 53 room property books up fast. The two-story property has a lodge feel with gently sloping, grassy grounds leading to an outdoor pool with several hot tubs. Beyond the pool is Five Petals Spa.

We didn’t have a chance to experience the spa, but we’ll be back next year for another winter in Southern Utah trip.

A framed photograph of "The Narrows" in Zion National Park is featured on a rock wall, separating the hotel lobby from Anthera restaurant. Three chairs and a coral colored softa surround a square wood coffee table. A snake plant and monstera plant are set on the stone fireplace mantle.

Inviting hotel lobby and Anthera restaurant

The entrance to the hotel is a combination of wood and glass that blends in with the Southern Utah vibe of the town of Springdale. Once inside the hotel, the inviting lobby welcomes visitors to sit down and relax. Beyond the lobby is the reception desk. We are Hilton hotel members, so we received 2 bottled waters upon check-in. A 24-hour coffee and tea area stand to the right of reception, along with a small area selling snacks and sundries.

Curio Collection hotel room

The Riverside hotel rooms have the best views, as you are able to hear the Virgin River from your private balcony or patio. Our king riverside room, with a private balcony, rented for $240 plus tax during our winter vacation. The room included a small sitting area with the enclosed bathroom separating the front area from the bedroom. Rates vary widely from off season rates to as high as $500 – $700 per night during peak season. This recreational community in Washington County draws visitors year-round to stunning Zion National Park.

The bathroom, with a shower/tub combination, was small. However, Mandarin Green Tea Zenology bath amenities and cotton robes with slippers brought the room up to Curio Collection expectations. The bed was very comfortable, as were the soft pillows.

There were two televisions in the room, as well as a coffee maker and mini fridge. Ground floor rooms give you the easiest access to all the hotel grounds.

Hotel grounds, pool, hot tub and Five Petals Spa

Speaking of access to hotel grounds, we spent a good deal of time in the upstream hot tub after hiking The Narrows in Zion National Park. Keep in mind that we were visiting Southern Utah in winter and the water temperature of the Virgin River was 37 degrees during our trek. That hot tub, with Watchman views, was certainly something to look forward to after a day of exploring Utah.

We didn’t swim in the pool or enjoy Five Petals Spa. I’m sure both amenities are well used other times of year. Seasonal activities include Yoga in the Gardens, daily live music at Anthera restaurant and the complimentary hotel shuttle.

Anthera restaurant dining

We took advantage of the on-site Anthera restaurant at Cliffrose Springdale. My husband enjoyed the Zion sunrise breakfast with two eggs, bacon and toast. I ordered the Greek yogurt parfait with fresh fruit & granola. I seek out best granola finds whenever possible. This house made granola was excellent and the parfait serving size was beyond generous.

Things to see and do near Zion National Park

There is a complimentary shuttle at Cliffrose Lodge to Zion National Park and downtown Springdale. This means you may also dine at Oscar’s Cafe, a popular Mexican restaurant or Switchback Grille, among others. There are also art galleries and coffee shops nearby.

The property has four electric charging stations. Onsite parking is complimentary. A concierge is on staff, as well. The property is not pet-friendly and charges a $300 pet cleaning fee if you try to sneak your dog in. (We are dog owners, but Zion National Park is best explored pet-free.)
