The privately-owned Santa Cruz County Airbnb is a Tuscan-style home with an additional country guest cottage in Watsonville, California.
Tucked 25 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz, this Tuscan country home was located in Watsonville. The property is just 10 minutes from a striking bluff (“La Selva Bluff”), overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is also home to surfer’s favorite, Manresa Beach. You’ll need a car when you stay here. However, there are plenty of things to do in Monterey, Santa Cruz and Carmel.
We stayed in both the Tuscan country house, as well as the guest cottage. Both Santa Cruz County Airbnb properties have their own charm. The main house is ideal for couples looking for a weekend or week day getaway. Both properties overlook a large, beautiful orchard with a plethora of interesting birds flying about. The Tuscan country cottage is better for a romantic escape or an individual hoping to relax in the country.
What’s different between Tuscan Country Home and Monterey Bay Airbnb Guest Cottage?
The guest cottage and main house feature a Tuscany color palette. In fact, the guest cottage is still used by the owner as her art studio. You’ll notice artwork hanging from the walls with paints and easel waiting for you. The owner lives on property with her friendly dog. While she enjoys animals, the property is not pet-friendly.
Both the 3 bedroom home and 1 bedroom guest cottage, pictured above, feature old world charm with new age products. The master bedroom in the Tuscan country home has an ensuite bathroom. All three bedrooms, located on the second story, have queen beds with a shared bathroom by bedrooms one and two.
Tuscan Country Home in Santa Cruz County, California
The property is situated on 2 acres and offers fruit trees and a country feel. It is located near Watsonville Municipal Airport. Light sleepers may want ear plugs. We used the Tuscan country home as our base for day trips to explore the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Carmel and Santa Cruz.
What are the amenities at the Monterey Bay Airbnb?
My husband enjoyed the outdoor shower, as well as the hot tub looking out on the apple trees. Birders will appreciate the binoculars left in the living room. There are about 40 species of birds that use the area as a migration corridor.
Relaxation is a theme at this Santa Cruz County Airbnb. You’ll find plenty of places to lounge on the wood deck. If you enjoy Airbnb Experiences, the owner offers one of the most delicious charcuterie boards we’ve ever tasted, for an additional fee.
Have you had a chance to visit California’s Santa Cruz County? While Watsonville is considered an agricultural area, it is close to Aptos, Carmel, Monterey and Santa Cruz. To give you an idea of drive times, allow 10 minutes to visit nearby Aptos. Carmel is a 45 minute drive and Santa Cruz is 25 minutes away.
Watsonville is part of the “Salad Bowl” where many of the country’s farm-grown fruits and vegetables are grown. Dining in the area is wholesome and delicious. There are plenty of dining options in surrounding communities and a wonderful bakery just a few minutes from the property.
What’s there to do at this Santa Cruz County Airbnb?
If you are looking for a Monterey Bay Airbnb within walking distance to downtown, this country home is not for you. It offers plenty of experiences on-property. From a Bocce court, to an outdoor firepit, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. However, you’ll need a car to get around.
Foodies take note!
The s’mores experience was a favorite of mine and is highly recommended. Allow a couple of hours to relax and sit around the fire pit. The gourmet s’mores package includes a bottle of wine, house-made marshmallows and chocolate made from a local chocolatier. Cozy lap blankets will keep you warm. This foodie experience is not something I’m soon to forget!
You’ll be able to enjoy the wood deck at either properties you rent. Self check-in is available at both Airbnb properties between 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Check-out is at 11:00 a.m. Fruit picking is in the property’s private orchard and is available during August and September.
Rates range from $425 mid-week to $689 weekends, depending on Santa Cruz County events and demand, in addition to cleaning fee and local tax. Visit The Tuscan Country Home in Santa Cruz County at the link below or book via Airbnb website.
