Holiday Inn Express and Suites Central Point Review

Located next to I-5, this hotel in Central Point, near Medford is convenient, clean and economical. Why trust my Holiday Inn Express and Suites Central Point review over others? I recently stayed in this affordable hotel, minutes to The Expo, Rogue River and four miles from Medford in Southern Oregon. Here’s my Holiday Inn Express Central Point first-hand review from a hotel guest’s perspective.

Holiday Inn Express and Suites Medford-Central Point hotel

While technically located in the city of Central Point, this Holiday Inn Express hotel shares its southern border with Medford. The 3-story, 84 room Medford Oregon hotel included 22 suites. Built in 2006, the two star hotel is family-friendly. However, pets are not allowed unless they are service animals.

We were happy that we reserved our king hotel room in advance for two reasons. This Holiday Inn Express and Suites Central Point is a member of IHG hotels. We were able to use our IHG points for this hotel stay and were entitled to a room category upgrade. The second reason that we were happy that we booked in advance was because the hotel sold out the night of our Saturday stay. It appears that the hotel is very popular with youth sports teams due to its convenient Central Point location and proximity to Medford.

Wooden nightstand on either side of king bed. Blue cloth sofa to left of bed, with small wood coffee table. A wet bar is next to the sofa, immediately past the hotel room door.

Our hotel stay started off with a gold star for expedited key pick up and check in. I typically opt-in for online check-in, especially when I want to avoid the hassle of waiting in a hotel queue. We were notified, via text, several hours before afternoon check-in that our king bed suite was available. Hat tip to Holiday Inn Express & Suites for offering this service to hotel guests.

We were attending the Oregon Cheese Festival at The Expo and appreciated that we could off-load our luggage. I’m a little gun shy about leaving anything in our vehicle since our friend’s car was stolen in Portland. Fortunately, the Medford-Central Point area felt safe on our stay.

Our king suite was quite spacious and included a mini fridge, microwave oven, Keurig Coffee maker and wet bar. The bathroom featured a shower with Dove bath amenities. The ice machine was located on the first floor.

Our hotel room was located on the 3rd floor, away from the elevator. I’m told rooms 301, 303, 305 and 307 offer the best mountain views. Our room, #327, offered a view of the parking lot and 1-5 freeway, but we were happy to keep an eye on our car.

Amenities at IHG Central Point hotel

Our hotel offered an indoor swimming pool and a small hot tub, located on the first floor of the Central Point hotel. Additionally there was a decent fitness room with Precor elliptical machine, treadmill and bench with a wall of hand weights. A balance ball and foam roller were also available in the mirror-filled room.

We didn’t utilize the laundry room during our one-night stay, so no first-hand experience with that hotel amenity.

Express Breakfast in Central Point

For the economy-minded and those traveling with kids, the complimentary Holiday Inn Express breakfast keeps those on a budget happy. My husband likes the sausage, biscuits and gravy, while I prefer the grab-and-go yogurt with a banana. There was also a make-your-own pancake machine, with syrup, in addition to pastries and a juice machine.

Bathroom supplies and Grab and Go snacks

Who among us has not forgotten to pack toothpaste or a toothbrush for our holiday? Holiday Inn Express and Suites to the rescue. The IHG hotel offers tooth paste, tooth brushes, mouthwash and hair combs for the forgetful hotel guest. Next to the front desk is the Grab and Go snack area. Caloric-filled goodies include candy, frozen pizza, ice cream, soda, beer and water.
