The first place I take a visitor from out of town is to Nidaros Cathedral.
When I crave Trondheim cuisine, I turn to Restaurant To Rom og Kjøkken or Havfruen Fish restaurant.
To escape work I go to Sponhuset at the Lade trail or the Trondheim public library in Norway.
For complete quiet, I can hide away at Bymarka – the town forest.
If you come to Trondheim, get your picture taken on The Old Town Bridge known as “the gate of fortune.”
If you have to order one thing off the menu at Restaurant Baklandet Skydsstation, get theFish Soup.
Trondheim is my one stop shop for trendy clothing for women with shops such as Shine, Retro, Moods of Norway and Inzani.
When I’m feeling cash-strapped, I go to Ramp.
For a huge splurge, I go to Credo Restaurant.
Photo ops in Trondheim include the wharves, the Nidaros Cathedral and the old town -Bakklandet.
The best vantage points are taken by walking to the top of Kristiansten Fortress.
The most random things about Trondheim are all of the music and cultural festivals.
In Trondheim an active day outdoors involves walking, hiking, skiing, or renting a city bike.
My favorite walking route is the Lade trail.
Trondheim’s best museum is Ringve – Norway’s national museum of music.
For a night of dancing, go to Britannia Hotel for live music every Friday and Saturday in the Hall of Mirrors.
The AiSuma is the spot for late night dining in Trondheim, Norway.

You can tell a lot about Trondheim from visiting the rural valley like Steinvikholmen Castle and watching the Midnight Opera Olav Engelbregtson event.
In the spring you should attend Norway’s Nidaros Blues Festival.
In the summer you should attend Olavsfestdagene – Trondheim’s St. Olav Festival.
In the fall you should visit Trondheim Chamber Music Festival.
In the winter you should go cross country skiing in Bymaka followed by a cup of hot chocolate at one of the many skiing lodges.
A hidden gem in Trondheim is Restaurant Lille Skansen and Ilabekken park.
For a great breakfast treat or espresso, go to Rica Nidelven Hotel -Norway’s best hotel breakfast five years in a row or Dromedar Kaffebar.
Just outside of Trondheim you can visit Brekstad, have lunch at the Ørland Kysthotel – 55 minutes with the coastal express from Trondheim.
The best way to see Trondheim is to walk. They also have the world’s only bicycle lift – however, it was under repair during my visit.
If you have kids, you won’t want to miss Trondheim’s Science Center and Tyhottårnet Restaurant – a rotating restaurant 74m (243 ft) up in the air!
