Travel shoes that offer fashion and function
I am not the Imelda Marcos of shoes. In fact, shoes are not very important to me as long as they offer comfort, durability and high performance. As my daughter clearly points out, I am about function, not fashion when it comes to travel shoes. With this in mind, I selected the Aravon Lucie, a Mary Jane style shoe, for my recent trip to the south of France. From walking ancient cobblestone streets to climbing the stairs of Rocamadour, the Aravon Lucie shoe passed the test for fashion, function and comfort.
Fashionable footwear in Aravon shoe
The Aravon “Lucie” is a woman’s shoe in a Mary Jane style with a low cut, closed toe and single criss-cross strap on the top, engineered by new balance. I wore these shoes with and without socks throughout my week in the Midi-Pyrenees region of France in the month of June. The rubber outsole, with its rolling motion, provided dependable grip on flag-stone, cobblestone and brick-paved streets and pathways. Faced with uneven pavement throughout my French adventure, the Aravon shoes proved their 12 oz. weight and space in my carry-on suitcase. In fact, I wore the Aravon Lucie on the airplane, as the single strap secures across the top of the foot and onto the outside of the shoe with Velcro.
The removable polyurethane insole offered comfort, while the PU plate and nylon shank in the midsole lent support to my wide foot. The Aravon shoes are available in black leather or brown Nubuck and come in narrow, medium, wide and double wide for a comfortable fit. I ordered the 2E width and they fit like Cinderella’s glass slipper.
