Upon leaving the Basque coast, we looked forward to visiting the metropolitan city of Bordeaux. While many people think of Bordeaux as wine country, which it is, it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage site and city of culture and history. The GPS guided our rental car into the Golden Triangle and Hotel de Tourny in the historic city center. This boutique hotel would serve as our home base of exploration for the next several days.
The 15 room hotel, opened in 2015, featured 3 single rooms, 9 double rooms and 3 suites in comfort, superior and executive levels. The property is actually two 18th century private mansions. Our room, #26, was the comfort category with a double bed and rented for 175€ on our January visit. Some rooms open onto a balcony. All rooms include air-conditioning and individual heat controls, complimentary wifi, flat screen television with international channels, hairdryer, and safety deposit box.
Each room was individually decorated by co-owner Sandrine Burgeat. We loved the cheerful, bright colors in the compact bathroom. Bath amenities by Home Product Rituals.
Breakfast is an additional fee of 15€ per person and includes meats, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, pastries, homemade cake, fresh juice and coffee. Room service is available 24 hrs, daily according to room category.
The hotel does not have a bar. However, customers can order a glass of Grands Cru vintage wines, thanks to the “D-vine” wine vending machine (www.10-vins.com)
