Family Summer Fun at Smugglers’ Notch in Vermont

Smugglers NotchWhen it comes to our summer family vacation, I’m not looking exclusively for a glamorous location.  Instead, I want to stay at a place where the kids can have fun, where everyone can explore our own interests, and where we can have some old-fashioned family time together.  That’s why we always try to get to Smugglers’ Notch, Vermont for a family vacation every summer.

Smugglers Notch, located about 45 minutes from Burlington, VT and four hours from Boston, offers five different condominium communities.  Everything can be accessed by the onsite shuttle or by driving.  There are eight pools, four waterslides, tennis courts, a mini golf course, and an indoor fun-zone (filled with inflatables).

During the days, my kids attend the kids’ camps, where they do arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, sports, and other fun activities, while my husband and I swim, kayak, hike, and explore Vermont.  The kids really enjoy the camp, and never want to leave Smuggs when our vacation is over.  For those with younger kids, Smuggs also offers Treasures, a day care center on site.

King Room Smugglers

Families at Smugglers’ Notch love the family suites, with full kitchens, multiple bedrooms, and living rooms.  We usually get a deluxe two-bedroom, and enjoy having lots of space for everyone.

Insider Tip

Groceries at Smugglers’ Notch are expensive, and there’s no real grocery store nearby.  If possible, pick up groceries on the drive in to save money.
