Located in Medford’s Geneva-Minnesota Historic District, Lady Geneva Bed & Breakfast at Buhrman House is a five star experience. The 2-story property offers historic Southern Oregon charm minutes from I-5, historic Jacksonville and Ashland, Oregon wine country. Close to Medford International Airport, Southern Oregon University Medford Campus and within walking distance of downtown Medford, Lady Geneva Bed and Breakfast is ideal for romantic escapes, girlfriend getaways and solo travel.

What makes Lady Geneva Bed and Breakfast unique?

Opened in 2018 as a luxury Southern Oregon bed and breakfast, Lady Geneva is owned and operated by Gloria and Cecil de Haas. The husband and wife couple live on property and know how to deliver a personalized guest experience. From a glass of Rogue River wine offered upon arrival, to gourmet breakfasts, our experience was first-class.

What are the rooms like at Lady Geneva boutique hotel?

There are five unique rooms at this boutique bed and breakfast in Medford, Oregon. We enjoy romantic weekend escapes to Rogue Valley wine country so we rented Lady Florence suite. This 340 square foot room was designed as the honeymoon suite in honor of the first owner of the home, Florence Olds Buhrman. Florence received the home as a wedding gift from her father.

Guests looking to celebrate special occasions will want to reserve Lady Florence room and consider purchasing the Romance Package. For an additional fee, the romance package includes a bottle of still or sparkling wine, chocolate charcuterie board and guests receive the wood board to keep. Additionally, a romantic gift set is included with Emz Blendz Tub Truffle, handcrafted soap and natural lip balm.

Lady Geneva Bed and Breakfast review

If this is a girlfriend-getaway, consider the Lady Ann room. This is an east facing suite with 2 queen beds and private deck. Alternatively, guests are able to book the entire Lady Geneva bed and breakfast. Almost like a DIY boutique hotel experience.

What about the B&B room amenities? Rooms included Down, Etc. robes, linens and terry towels, as well as hair dryer. My husband and I both enjoyed discovering Emz Blendz Soap Co. products. This Ashland, Oregon-based skincare and bath amenities company was featured at Lady Geneva. A much better sustainable alternative to tiny shampoo bottles that many chain hotels use. My husband actually asked me to purchase Emz Blendz shampoo. That speaks volumes from a guy with a very short haircut.

Rates range from $170 – $220 depending on the room and time of year. The majority of the 5 hotel rooms are located on the 2nd floor of the bed and breakfast. The 100-year-old plus B&B does not include an elevator.

Lady Alice is a studio room located on the first floor. This room is ideal for solo travelers or those opting to spend time outside of their guest room.

Lady Geneva gourmet breakfast

Guests are greeted with a glass of Rogue Valley wine. Dietary preferences are addressed with the innkeepers before arrival at the Medford bed and breakfast.

We were delighted to be served a strawberry parfait at breakfast. Our second course was avocado toast with goat cheese and thick cut bacon. Several choices of juice and a wide selection of local teas were offered. Coffee lovers will enjoy the latte and cappuccino options.

The next morning we were served a bowl of fresh fruit and bread pudding French toast with thick cut bacon. I’m not a bacon connoisseur, yet even I enjoyed this locally-made cured pork. As was typical of our stay, Gloria made sure to write down where we could purchase this bacon to re-create this meal at home. But who am I kidding? I have absolutely no intention of baking this decadent French toast. Instead, I will book a return stay to enjoy one of the many festivals offered in Southern Oregon.

Things to do in Medford, Jacksonville and Rogue Valley wine country

Televisions are available upon request in the hotel rooms. There is a television in the living room and a wonderful one-of-a kind game table in the parlor. The antique player piano sits nearby. Guests are welcome to linger downstairs or in the patio area beyond the house.

Lady Geneva offers a convenient, on/off location to 1-5. The B&B is located within walking distance to several Medford restaurants. As a former resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, I confess that I was not expecting to be blown away by the caliber of dining choices in Medford.

I highly recommend Decant restaurant, a short walk from Lady Geneva Bed and Breakfast. Owners, Gloria and Cecil, are well versed in food and wine. They were spot-on with their restaurant and wine tasting recommendations. If you love cheese, visit Rogue Creamery. Drop the Lady Geneva B&B name and you’ll receive a discount at the Central Point store.

Finally, we enjoyed a day of Rogue Valley wine tasting at Awen Winecraft and Remotion. Both are producers of small lots of handmade wines from the terroir of Rogue Valley grapes. For theater-goers, check-out Craterian Theater at the Collier Center for the Performing Arts for musicals and plays. The Holly Theatre, built in 1929, is a historic Spanish Colonial revival theater. It might be the largest theater between Northern California and Eugene, Oregon. Don’t miss the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland or Britt Festival in historic Jacksonville.
