Aberfeldy is home to Perthshire’s highest mountain and Scotland’s longest river, River Tay, Europe’s oldest living thing. Only 90 minutes drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Aberfeldy is worlds apart from the big city and perched in the Scottish Highlands. Aberfeldy is Scotland’s first Fairtrade town and is also home to Errichel House B&B in the Scottish Highlands.

To be honest, I’d never heard of Aberfeldy before our epic Scotland and Wales road trip. I found Errichel House on Instagram because I was drawn to Rebecca Newman’s photo of her charming boys, Storm and Airgead (“Silver” in Gaelic.) I’ve dubbed these Highland ponies the official welcoming committee of Errichel House B&B in Scottish Highlands because they are so dang adorable and reflect Scotland’s friendly hospitality!

Errichel House B&B in Scottish Highlands

Errichel House is a family-owned and operated 4 star hotel in the Scottish Highlands. It’s also a working hill farm in Tay Valley with horses, goats, cows, pigs, sheep and ducks. The family-friendly property offers sustainable luxury and a chance for guests to reconnect with nature.

Situated in the center of Scotland, Aberfeldy is an ideal location as a home base for your holiday. We traveled from here to visit Falkirk  to see The Kelpies, the highest and largest equine sculptures in the world. We also took a Highland Safari to see the red deer and we took a farm walk with Becky Newman and Errichel’s Shetland pony, Massey Ferguson. As you can tell, there’s a lot to see and do in the Scottish Highlands, but I digress.

“We breed rare breed native species,” said Owner Rebecca Newman. “You’ll see native Scottish farm animals on the property.”
