Delsey Cruise Soft Luggage

It’s almost Mother’s Day. I have put together the ultimate Mother’s Day gift guide for moms who love to travel. By the way, you don’t have to be a mother to shop this travel gift guide or take advantage of the discount codes.

If you are like me, you love to travel. My husband rolls his eyes when I bring out my suitcase days before my departure date to practice pack. He makes fun of me; but I’m the one who travels with a carry-on for a 14 day river cruise, while he packs the 25″ soft-side luggage, along with a backpack. I have a list of travel gear and travel apparel I love, including Delsey luggage. My carry-on, Delsey’s Montmartre, is on sale right now.

As I mentioned, my husband is not an efficient packer. I got him the Delsey Cruise Soft 25″ spinner ($179.99 on sale) for our recent river cruise with AmaWaterways. It was actually very easy to travel with Delsey Cruise softside luggage because we checked our luggage (something I rarely do) all the way through to our destination in Prague. We had a few days in the Czech Republic, so if the airline lost our luggage, we had time to adjust our plans accordingly. Fortunately, our luggage made it with us to Prague and onto our river cruise. I like the Delsey softside luggage because it’s made with durable nylon with Teflon protection. The double spinner wheels makes running or walking through airports a breeze and the separate easy-access compartment makes reaching for a pair of shoes or a particular jacket easy. The zipper divider, zippered pockets and water resistant pocket inside makes me feel better when I pack a bottle of red wine in my luggage – no disasters yet! But my favorite feature of the Delsey Cruise luggage is the built-in overweight indicator. It actually shows if your bag weighs over 50 lbs; I refuse to pay overweight charges.

While our trip on the romantic Danube River was in early May, we had sunshine, but the weather was brisk. I brought my Bushmanshop jacket that I packed with me on our trip to Ireland and I packed clothes that I could layer. One of my favorite brands for travel is California-based White Sierra. The family-owned Sunnyvale company makes fashionable outdoor clothing, at a reasonable price, for the entire family. In the below photo, I’m wearing the Gobi Desert long sleeve shirt, women’s bug free scarf with Insect Shield and the Women’s Sierra Cove Hoody. If you enter the code Nancy33 on the White Sierra website, you’ll get 33% off your entire order.

When I’m not traveling, I try to swim or do deep water aerobics five days a week. I’ve written about the Southern California-based company Slipins previously. The sun protective swim wear, with 60+ UPF sun protection, also dries quickly and is great for travel. I wear gymskins to the pool and for yoga. My latest favorite style is Symmetry animal collage in blue. There are many different styles, colors and designs to choose from and you’ll get 10% off instantly on your first order.

Of course, when you’re at the pool, working out or traveling, it is important to keep properly hydrated. I was very excited to learn that the Central Oregon-based company, HydroFlask, had introduced tumblers. The stainless steel tumblers come in two sizes; 32 oz and 22 oz. The 32 oz tumbler is great for keeping at my desk and sipping water or hot tea throughout the work day, while the 22 oz tumbler is a perfect fit in my backpack, in the car or on a boat. Both tumblers keep cool drinks cold and warm drinks like coffee, hot chocolate, tea and soups, piping hot.

The last three gift ideas are perfect for airplane travel. I wear compression socks on long haul flights. Sometimes I felt like my legs were being stuffed into socks like a sausage into casings. Fortunately, I was introduced to Lily Trotters, designer, high performance compression socks that are actually cute. I have the sassy bow style, but there are numerous designs and colors in their USA-made collection.

What travel items are “must haves” for flights? For me, I must have my iPhone with me, at all times, and a comfortable pair of earphones. Etymotic mk5 Isolator earphones are low-profile in-ear speakers with ACCU Chamber technology. Priced at $64.95, the earphones deliver an almost custom fit as the eartip options ensure a proper seal. The noise isolation feature insures that you’ll tune out crying babies or loud jet engines while you travel. I’m told that with the reduction of outside noise levels, the risk of listening to music at unsafe levels is lessened. I’m all for supporting hearing loss prevention for young adults. Use code MK15TP to receive 15% off the purchase of mk5’s.

Finally, on my trip to Ireland, I discovered Burren Salmon. This artisan smoked salmon in Lisdoonvarna, Ireland, along the Wild Atlantic Way, captured my attention and taste buds. Owner Birgitta HedinCurtin explained the smokehouse process to me and let me sample the hot smoked over oak salmon, as well as the honey, lemon and dill Irish organic salmon. In case you’re wondering, Burren Salmon ships their products overnight from County Clare to destinations outside of Ireland.
